Irena contributed as Director’s Consultant to film director, 

Jivan Avetisyan, in the making of Gate to Heaven (Armenia, 2019).

She volunteers as an interpreter in the Montefiore Institute and helps to develop programming and events.

​

She researched and co-wrote, together with the Jewish Historical Society of Southern Alberta, the Alberta chapter of CIJA’s exhibit, Jews: A Canadian Story in Pictures. The photography exhibit was displayed at the Calgary JCC and Calgary City Hall Atrium in January of 2014.

Irena co-founded, co-organized and co-curated Shalom Salam: A Celebration of Persian Jewish and Bukharian Culture. The festival and exhibit gave voice to the distinct cultural identity of one of the world’s most ancient Jewish groups and their settlement in southern Alberta. Shalom Salam was held at the Calgary JCC February 20 to March 9, 2013.
